CANbuild is a business founded on Principals and Values. We are inspired by our broad vision for leading the Design – Build industry with an exceptional approach and matching results.

We have been operating out of Nanaimo for the past 18 years. Our work includes considerably complex buildings with high-end finishes, and values in excess of $6 Million. Our work region covers the entire region of Vancouver Island, but we are especially focused on the Mid-Island region’s economic and workforce development. Design/Build has been integral to our approach now for a number of years. This pursuit has been to expand the benefits to the client through collaboration within all our work. Our culture, out to and including the field, is to invite and draw valuable input from all sources. With suppliers, consultants, trades and employees all on this same page, ideas and thoughts for improvements are willingly presented in an atmosphere of openness, which is supported, by organization and structure. Ideas flow quickly to where they can be considered, refined and included when deemed an improvement. In general, egos are checked at the door, calling forward a high level of communication and intent, placing the project and its best outcome as the ultimate priority.

Experience And Expertise : Our Team

Lorne Gale, Project Manager has 25 years experience in the management of commercial & industrial construction projects, is detail oriented, and a straightforward communicator.

Ryan McKinnon – Administration & Accounting Manager has spent that last 8 years refining our internal management processes as they relate to project administration and reporting.

Diana Earl – Accounting Assistant has 10 years of financial management experience.

American Buildings

Our partnership with American Buildings Company facilitates the supply of fully engineered/customized steel buildings and/or components for any design when desired. They become an asset in the Design Phase, providing drawings, details and engineering for designs into which we include steel frames. The steel from ABC carries a high rating in the LEED points system, is recycled and has an extensive life.
